Microblogging A Special Guide to Tiny Posts and Big Profits

--

Senior Edition :)

Hey there, fellow entrepreneurs! Are you tired of watching your grandkids tap away with both thumbs on their phones and wondering what all the fuss is about?

Well…

Grab your reading glasses and settle into your favorite recliner, because I’m about to introduce you to the world of microblogging — your ticket to internet fame and fortune! (Okay, maybe not fortune, but definitely a nice little side hustle.)

What in the World is Microblogging?
Microblogging is like regular blogging, but for people with short attention spans — so basically, everyone these days. It’s all about sharing bite-sized nuggets of wisdom, humor, or random thoughts. Think of it as passing notes in class, but the whole world can read them. And the best part? You don’t need to write a novel every time you want to share something!

Social media platforms like Twitter / 𝕏, Bluesky, Threads, and even LinkedIn are good examples of microblogging platforms. The one that shows the most promise is Substack Notes.

Notes is like Twitter / 𝕏 for the Substack platform. This allows you to attract followers with short-form content, build a genuine connection, and encourage them to join your newsletter. (Feel Free to talk to me about Substack) I LOVE IT!!!

I have a friend who after only a week on the platform, attracted an audience of 50 followers. And while that may not seem like much, it’s all due to writing a couple of carefully crafted notes and sharing issues of their newsletter.

Even a modest 50 followers weekly would add up to 2600 followers in a year.

This is more than enough to generate a part-time income online, and even more if you have a high-ticket offer you can share/sell.

Platforms Even a Technophobe Can Handle
Twitter — Where you can share your thoughts in 280 characters or less. Perfect for those of us who forget what we were saying halfway through a sentence anyway!

Instagram — Show off your garden, your latest knitting project, or that casserole that actually turned out edible. #SeniorChefMasterpiece

LinkedIn — For when you want to remind everyone that you’ve forgotten more about your profession than these young whippersnappers will ever know.

Why Should You Care?
Now, I know what you’re thinking… ‘I’ve lived this long without microblogging, why start now?’ Well, my wise friend, here’s why…

Extra Income
Believe it or not, people make money from this stuff. Sponsored posts, affiliate marketing — it’s like a yard sale, but you don’t have to drag your junk out onto the lawn!

Stay Connected
Keep up with the grandkids without having to ask them to speak up every five seconds.

Share Your Wisdom
You’ve got decades of life experience. It’s time to unleash it on the unsuspecting internet!

Boost Your Brain
Learning new tech skills is like Sudoku for your neurons. Keep that mind sharp!

Getting Started
It’s easier than programming your old VCR

Pick a platform
Start with one. Maybe TikTok if you can get on video or Maybe Twitter / X if you don’t want to be on camera… X is like shouting into the void, but sometimes the void shouts back!

Create an account
Use a username that screams ‘I’ve got wisdom to share!’ Like @GrandmaBakedCookies or @RetiredAndInspired.

Start posting
Share your thoughts, your day, your opinions on the latest episode of Wheel of Fortune. The world is your oyster!

Engage
Follow others, comment, like. It’s like a church social, but you don’t have to wear pants.

The Senior Advantage

Here’s the kicker — being a senior is your superpower in the microblogging world. While the youngsters are busy sharing their avocado toast, you can…

  • Offer life hacks from decades of experience
  • Share vintage photos that’ll make the hipsters swoon
  • Dispense wisdom that only comes with age (and maybe a few glasses of wine or a Margarita)

Remember, age is just a number, but in the microblogging world, it’s a number that can set you apart and potentially pad your retirement fund.

So, my fellow young-at-hearts, it’s time to embrace the world of microblogging. Who knows? You might just become the next octogenarian influencer. Now, wouldn’t that be something to tell the card club about?

Get out there and show those millennials how it’s done. After all, we invented ‘going viral’ — we just called it ‘gossip’ back in our day!

Ok, I can help you get started, just reach out anyway that feels good to you. I love Zoom so that’s my favorite but I will also talk on the phone, send messages back and forth on Facebook Messenger or meet you in person if you are near me. I’m in Livingston, TX.

Go to either of my websites to set up a time that is convenient to us both…
